Norwalk 2004 Car highlights.....
Mike's GTO is sporting a 462 Pontiac motor with a compression ratio of 13 to 1 making over 700 horsepower. Mike is currently running a set of Edelbrock heads that flow approximately 320 cfm on the intake side. The motor uses a Comp Cams solid roller camshaft. On gas (and with no tuning), the car has run a best of 9.91 in the 1/4 mile. Hoping to get into the 9.60 range with alcohol. We are also planning to do a head swap later this year so stay tuned!
January 2005 The car has a fully removable fiberglass front end, glass decklid, glass doors, and lexan windows. Performance Update - May 2005 In late March, we replaced the 1050 dominator with a Ron's Flying Toilet injection system and some alky. We were preparing the car for the 2005 Pontiacs in the Park event and were hoping to qualify for the Quick 16 at the event. We had also filled out an application to participate in an HPP shootout that was to be held at the same track one day before Pontiac in the Park. We were happy to find out that Mike's car was selected. In the shootout the car performed as follows:
The final runs were made with Mike leaving @ 4200 rpm on the 2 step. The car yanks the wheels VERY hard! Mike subsequently qualified for the Quick 16 in the # 10 position with a 9.57 @ 137 mph. With good air and a little bit better 60' we should be able to get the car into the 9.30s. Below is a short video of Mike's '66 launching in the HPP shootout runs. The article should appear in the April 2006 issue. Mike launching at the HPP shootout @ Virginia Motor Sports Park
